Continuing with my theme of making
it fun for the cartoonists AND me, for Toonfest 2006 I went even
further by drawing myself in the Hägar The Horrible style and
having Hägar reacting to my astonishing resemblance to him. I drew
myself in the same shirts and shorts as what I wore that day.
ON TOP OF THAT, I also had Dan Piraro(creator of the Bizarro comics)
draw his famous arrow in my shield, because it just so happens that the
shields in the Hägar comics often have arrows in them, and Dan
likes to hide things such as arrows in his comics. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!
Much to my surprise, Dan went on to draw a stick of dynamite under
Hägar's foot! The dynamite is another thing he likes to hide in
his comics. Not only does this up the degree of humor considerably, it
also adds creative input by one of the artists. A standard sketch is
good, but an artist using their own creativity to add to the drawing
makes it a work of art.
