Symposium
After all this, the artists all answered questions, including the
ever-present, "How did you get your start in cartooning?" Well,
everybody has a different answer. Chris was born into it, Lynn did
various projects until she finally started her comic, Dan(holding the
mic) went the more common route of just sending comics to syndicates
until someone bit.
We also found out(thanks to someone's question) that Lynn will be
ending the For Better Or For Worse storyline in about a year(meaning
autumn of 2007), then she'll start doing retrospective comics, tying up
loose ends from previous comics and the like. Pete Docter's favorite
movie is Dumbo.
Are hand-drawn cartoons going to go the way of the dinosaur in favor of
computer-animated cartoons? Everybody all together now: "NO"! Even Pete
Docter, who had a hand in a few 3D cartoons, didn't think it would
phase out hand-drawn cartoons. Then Dan Piraro, the Bizarro guy, said,
"In fact, I couldn't be here today. I'M computer-generated!".
Update(Feb 18, 2007): About Mrs. Johnston's plans of changing For Better Or For Worse, here's a press release with further, more official details.
